About Lisbon Stories
One thing I notice while searching the net is that it’s extremely hard for travellers to find licensed tourist guides. You can find us through a travel agency but if you go to Trip Advisor or Google “Lisbon private tours” the companies that show up first don't have licensed guides working for them, just people who speak “a bit of English" and might know “a bit” about the place. Since the certification process for licensed tourist guides is very hard, you can imagine how frustrating this is.
That's how I had the idea to start this project: private tours
with local licensed guides who will be also driving, to make these tours as personal and exclusive as possible. All tours have been created specially for this website, thinking about your interests and quality of time during your holidays; but all tours can be customizable, and if you want something different, you're more than welcome to explain your ideas.
In the beginning the guide will be mostly me, Catia, the person who has been writing this website (and is actually programming it, doing the translations and everything) but if you request a date on which I'm already busy, I'll let you know that, and put you in contact with another licensed guide, someone I know you can trust, who will deliver the tour just as you asked.
In short, Lisbon stories is a project to make you feel like you belong to the city, ensure high quality private tours; no crowds, whispers or flags; just you and those you like.
Lisbon stories, belong to the city!Regarding me,
I have a degree in Tourism and a specialization on
Sustainable Tourism. In May 2007 passed the National Exam to be
a tourist guide and have been working in the field since then. I speak
fluently Portuguese, English, Italian and I'm entitled to give tours
in the whole country. In this moment I work as a free-lancer splitting my
time between this kind of private tours and big bus tours, working
for some of the most known travel agencies.
Two things you'll understand during the tour are that a) I love this job and don't imagine me doing anything else; b) the thing that amazes me most is the “wow” or “have you seen that” people say do their travel companions when they discover something new and feel overwhelmed with the Portuguese art/culture.
Come, you won't regret!
