Obidos
Few towns have such a clear name: Óbidos comes from the latin “Oppidum”, meaning fortified city.
Long after the romans left, the name still means a lot as Óbidos grew inside the medieval walls.
Today Óbidos means a lot: the famous cherry liqueur drunk in a chocolate cup, the endless handicraft shops, cute narrow streets with white washed houses, bunganvilias pending from the balconies, long walls that you can climb and a real castle where you can actually stay for the night.
